Current status of League

League converting to GPL (Grand Prix Legends).  Initial tryout night on 28/11/01 in the TOCA2 IRC channel.

The league finished its last ever TOCA2 race on 21st November and is now switching to GPL (Grand Prix Legends) as discussed in the forum. If anyone wants to keep a Wednesday TOCA2 league going get in touch with me and I will do what I can to help (no-one has been in touch yet so I think a continuation of the TOCA2 racing here now seems unlikely). I am not sure yet what will ultimately happen to the website but I will put the GPL stuff in here for a while to keep people informed. F1Racer is putting together a website for the GPL league and we will link it in to this one. This one will become dormant for now but may be resurrected if we start "TOCA3" racing. At first GPL will be run from the existing IRC channel but we will soon transfer to VROC or a new IRC channel (probablyVROC). Details on F1's new Grand Prix Legends League website:

Other leagues

Like TOCA2 online racing?  Try one or more of the following:

1) The Monday night league run by Gearchange at http://www.toca2league.com replaces the Wireplay League previously run by Dr Remus. It meets  on Mondays at 21-00 in the same IRC channel as the Wednesday IP League and offers head-to head racing with Toca cars only and collisions on. Its great fun.  Try it. (As well as our league, not instead!!).

2) The 1-make Formula Ford (Van Diemens) league run by Spinner and PIM on Sundays via the International Racing Site http://www.intracing.nu/toca2/default.asp

3) Findus has a league that runs on Saturday evenings and is aimed at less experienced racers (http://clik.to/toca).

4) AJ is running a team league where you arrange your own race times with the opposing team (http://www.geocities.com/toca_aj/) (I don't think this actually got off the ground?

Racing weekly on Wednesdays at 21-30 BST: SEASON 12 finishing on 21/11/01, 17+ players now racing in a one-division league.

The Toca 2 IP League, which plays on Wednesdays, is a fairly informal and friendly? league with lots of arguments (see the Forum) and a wide spread of driver skills ranging from newbies to experienced racers who can challenge the best. We race in a series of Championship Seasons. This season is 8 weeks with the best 6 results counting. We meet at 21-30 UK time (GMT in winter, BST in summer) in the QuakeNet  IRC #Toca2 IRC channel (see below for how to set up IRC and join the channel). New starters are still welcome. As noted above we are soon switching to race GPL.

How to join

If you would like to join you can just turn up at the appropriate time in either the Pit Lane chat room or the #toca2 IRC channel (see Joining instructions for channel details and how to set up IRC). It would help if you could send your details (racing name, email address and brief computer details) to me at steams.toca2ip@btinternet.com. The contact details allow us to let you know if we expect any problems on a race night (e.g. if racing is cancelled or delayed for any reason) or to include you in enquiries about preferred future race formats etc. The computer details are only used to identify good race hosts so if you have a high spec machine and fast connection let us know, otherwise just say low spec.

Please only join if you are able to commit to racing regularly. Racing is much better if there are a good number of drivers in each race. Dropouts tend to spoil this (although obviously no-one can make it every tourney and I know I will miss some myself due to work commitments).
